Advanced Resource Management Facilities

• The configuration manager replaces (either partially or totally) the standard hardware resource management facilities present in the Linux kernel. It provides both the old API and a new one.
  
  
• Resources, in this context, are such hardware concepts as:
  • Interrupts (IRQs)
  • DMA channels
  • I/O ports
  • Memory locations or ranges
